Tournament Rules

  • Two-man teams (must start and finish with same partner).
If your partner is not there then you may play alone but you will alternate your live up with your partner being an automatic out when he would have been up (scored a "K").
  • Five inning games (coin flip will decide home team).
If game is tied after 5 innings, then a sixth inning will be played. If still tied the tiebreakers will be:
    a) team with most hits wins --- if still tied
    b) team with most HR's wins --- if still tied
    c) team with most total bases wins --- if tied
    d) team that scored first wins --- if tied (score is 0-0)
    e) coin flip decides winner (called by home team)
  • First game is at 8 am sharp with other games rapidly following. Be there when it's your turn to play as you will only be given a five minute grace period before your team will be forced to forfeit that game.
  • PITCHING:  This is slow pitch and you must throw strikes(i.e. HOMERUN DERBY)!  If pitcher does not throw a strike within 5 pitches, his partner must come in. If partner does not throw a strike within 5 pitches, then a committee will decide if a walk should be issued to that batter.
  • PITCHING:  Pitchers must pitch from the mound.
  • FIELDING:  All trees are in play and therefore a ball caught out of the trees is an out.
  • FIELDING:  If a batted ball is touched and dropped by a fielder while he is in the double area or on the double line then -- DOUBLE.
  • FIELDING:  Any running into or climbing of fences in an attempt for a batted ball will result in an automatic dismissal from tourney.

  • BATTING:  3 outs per inning; one swing and miss = OUT; swing and foul ball = OUT.
  • BATTING:  Umpires call balls and strikes and hence, called strikes = OUT; called balls = WALK.  Strikezone will be from batters knees to their shoulders as the pitch crosses the 17" wide plate. Note: This also includes the corners or edges of the plate. It will be the umpire's call. There will be no arguments.
  • BATTING: One strike is an out unless the batter or the catcher catches the ball in behind the foul line.  The pitcher can not interfere with the batting team on any foul balls.  Example situations:
    • Count on batter is 2 balls and 1 strike and he fouls a pitch off and he catches it, the count remains 2 and 1.
    • Batter fouls a pitch off and catches it and then the next pitch is a called strike, the count is 0 and 1.

The point is that a foul ball caught by the batting team has no bearing on the count.

  • BATTING:  Balls which are hit into yards either directly to your left or directly to your right are outs.
  • BATTING: HITS

Single -- groundball that reaches the back fence.

Double -- lands past double line on the fly, hits back fence on the fly or left field fence on the fly in fair territory, hits the side of the garage or Genny sign on the fly

Homerun -- ball goes over back fence or hits the foul pole.  Also, down the left field line, ball must make the foul pole while down the right side the ball must land in yard directly behind back fence.

  • SCORING:  Runners will only advance as many bases as the batter does, e.g., with runners on 1st and 2nd a double scores one, leaving runners on 2nd & 3rd.
  • SCORING:  Blowout Rule:  In order to get the all the games played while there is still daylight, if a team is down by more then 10 runs (11 or more) after 4 complete innings of play then the team leading will be declared the winners and the next game will begin.
  • Tourney players who are not playing will umpire games from the double-line chair.
  • If not playing in present game then stay behind the ropes.
  • Play at own risk. If hurt during play we're not liable.
  • If it rains on Saturday, then we'll play on Sunday.
  • *** MUST BE 21 YEARS OLD TO DRINK ***
  • Chris Ruocco / Bob Turner are the commissioners and will have the final say an any disputes.
  • Please stay out of the house ! THANK YOU!
